From STARTALK to Flagship: ASU Chinese Language Camp

“From STARTALK to Flagship: ASU Chinese Language Camp” offers a 15-day residential program for 11-12th grade students in Arizona to increase their motivation and proficiency level in Chinese through a highly individualized and task-based curriculum. During the 15- day program held at the ASU Tempe campus, students will receive Chinese language instruction in the mornings and participate in cultural activities in the afternoons and evenings. Language instruction will be delivered through group lessons, individual instruction, and peer mentoring. For cultural activities, students will have hand-on activities to learn traditional Chinese arts, crafts, calligraphy, cooking, and some martial arts. They will also work on projects on cultural and social issues in China, watch movies on different themes, and etc.
We hope that through this summer camp, high school students will see the value and fun of learning and exploring the language and culture beyond a structured classroom setting and eventually become life-long learners of Chinese language.
