Apply for Flagship Partner Program

The ASU Chinese Language Flagship Partner Program offers advanced Mandarin language learners an intensive two-year program to develop superior language skills while pursuing degrees in an academic major of your choice. Prospective candidates must submit the items on the application checklist, detailed below, by Jan. 31. The Flagship office will contact all qualified applicants for an interview.

 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Demonstrated proficiency in intermediate- to advanced-level Mandarin
  • Completion of academic cultural literacy prerequisites, including the study of literary Chinese and at least one other college-level course related to China
  • GPA of 3.25 or higher and a high commitment to personal and education growth
  • U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency

 

Application Checklist

Interested persons who meet the basic qualifications should send the following materials directly to the Chinese Language Flagship Partner Program by Jan. 31.

  1. Application Coversheet
  2. Statement of Purpose (500 – 1000 word essay) stating your goals with respect to the program, your language proficiency and your suitability to the purposes of the program
  3. Three Recommendation Forms and at least three letters of recommendation. One letter should specifically address your Chinese language proficiency as well as your suitability to the purposes of the program.
  4. A complete set of official transcripts from each institution you have attended
